Why MicroWeb Labs

This is not just a job.

Most people spend their careers building products for markets that already have ten alternatives. At MicroWeb Labs, we are building in a category that has no serious native competitor — and for a market of 54 million businesses that has never been properly served.

That is a rare thing. The kind of problem that only comes around once or twice in a generation. The people who join us now are not joining a company — they are founding a category. Their fingerprints will be on the infrastructure that powers African digital commerce for the next twenty years.

We operate with the rigour of a serious institution and the pace of a founding team. We hire slowly, trust completely, and build with a standard that does not bend to shortcuts. If that sounds demanding — it is. It is also the most satisfying kind of work there is.

Reason 01
Category-defining work
You are not optimising an existing product. You are building the first serious African-native digital business platform. Every decision you make has no precedent — which means it matters more.
Reason 02
Genuine ownership
MicroWeb Labs is in its founding phase. Early team members carry real responsibility, shape real decisions, and build the kind of track record that defines careers. There are no peripheral roles here.
Reason 03
Remote-first, Africa-rooted
We are a distributed team with an operational heart in Abuja. You can work from anywhere — but you will always know exactly who you are building for and why it matters.
Reason 04
A team that builds with conviction
Every person on this team believes in the mission with the same intensity as the founder. That shared conviction makes the work faster, the culture stronger, and the output better.
How We Work

The culture we are deliberately building.

Culture is not a list of perks. It is the set of decisions a team makes when no one is watching. These are ours.

B
Build over talk
We move from idea to execution faster than most teams move from idea to meeting. Momentum is a value. Shipped work is the only proof that matters.
D
Depth over breadth
We do fewer things at a higher standard rather than many things adequately. Every product, every feature, every piece of content earns its place by meeting a bar we set deliberately high.
T
Trust as default
We hire for judgement and then let people use it. No micro-management. No approval chains for decisions you are qualified to make. Accountability flows from ownership, not surveillance.
H
Honest over comfortable
We tell each other the truth — about the product, the strategy, the work, the market. A culture that cannot hold honest feedback cannot build anything that lasts.
A
Africa as the brief
The continent's realities — mobile-first infrastructure, Naira pricing, local payments, bandwidth constraints — are not obstacles to our work. They are the design brief. We embrace them, not endure them.
L
Long-term thinking
We are building infrastructure, not a feature. Infrastructure requires patience, vision, and the willingness to make decisions today that will only be obviously correct in five years. We make those decisions.

What We Offer

Compensation for people who build things that last.

We are a pre-Series A company. We do not pretend otherwise. What we offer is competitive in the African market, honest about the stage, and structured to reward the people who build the foundation.

Competitive Naira salaries
Market-competitive compensation benchmarked against Nigerian and pan-African tech salaries — paid in Naira for Nigeria-based roles, USD equivalent for fully remote international hires.
Equity participation
Early team members receive meaningful equity — not token options. As MicroWeb Labs scales toward Series A and beyond, the people who built the foundation share in what they built.
Remote-first flexibility
Most roles are fully remote. For Abuja-based roles, we offer hybrid arrangements. You are measured on output, not presence. We trust the people we hire to manage their own time.
Learning & development budget
Every team member receives an annual learning budget for courses, conferences, books, and tools. We believe the people building MicroWeb Labs should also be growing alongside it.
Health coverage
Health insurance for Nigeria-based team members through a tier-one HMO provider. We believe a team that is healthy and secure does its best work.
I
Infrastructure access
Full access to the MicroWeb Labs suite, a hardware stipend for new hires, and a home office setup budget. You build better when your tools are excellent.
The Hiring Process

How we find each other.

Our hiring process is designed to be fast, honest, and respectful of your time. We do not run six rounds of interviews or ask you to complete unpaid projects. We do a small amount of focused work together — and then we decide.

We typically move from first application to offer in under three weeks for roles we are actively hiring. We communicate at every stage — you will never wonder where you stand.

We hire for three things above all others: the quality of your thinking, the quality of your work, and your alignment with what we are building. Credentials matter less than evidence.

01
Application review
We read every application carefully. CV, portfolio or work samples, and your answer to why this role at this company. We respond to every qualified applicant within 5 business days.
Timeline: 3–5 business days
02
Introductory call — 30 minutes
A direct conversation with the hiring lead. No trick questions. We want to understand your background, your thinking, and your interest in MicroWeb Labs. You should leave knowing if this is right for you.
Timeline: Scheduled within 1 week of shortlisting
03
Work sample or technical discussion
A focused, paid work sample (for creative and technical roles) or a structured case discussion (for strategy and product roles). We scope it tightly — maximum 3 hours of your time — and we pay for it.
Timeline: Completed within 5 days
04
Final conversation with Francis
A 45-minute conversation with the founder for every final-stage candidate. Not an evaluation — a conversation about the mission, the work, and whether we want to build together.
Timeline: Within 3 days of work sample review
05
Offer and onboarding
Written offer with full compensation, equity, and role scope documentation. Onboarding begins the moment you sign — access, context, and your first project within the first week.
Timeline: Offer within 48hrs of final conversation
